Our history dates back to 1693, when it formed part of the larger Groenrivier farm granted by Simon van der Stel. Today, our wines are crafted by celebrated winemaker, Schalk van der Westhuizen whose devotion to his craft is ever present.
Wine Tasting
When you visit us for a wine tasting, it will cost R10 to sample the Rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and R10 to taste the Port. For the inquisitive, our guests are free to take a stroll through the impressive barrel cellar.
Known for our impressive collection of classically-styled reds, Alto Wine Estate now offers a delicious combination of our wines teamed up with home-made patés. Three wines are presented with three patés served on artisanal 100% rye bread made in the area.
The wine and paté pairing costs R50.
The ideal spot for an after-work drink or weekend sundowner, visit Alto Wine Estate for red wine sundowners, served with freshly baked white bread, dukkah, pesto and extra virgin olive oil.
