Topaz in colour but tinged with a very appealing red, this muscadel is filled with delicious flavours of raisins, Christmas cake, cinnamon and subtle citrus, culminating in a velvety smooth and lingering mocha aftertaste.
Serve it over crushed ice in a martini glass as an aperitif or as a substitute for a heavy dessert. It is also extraordinarily good when partnered with a platter laden with nuts, preserves, smoked meats and cheeses or dessert, such as brie cheesecake, pecan tart and caramelized pear tart tatin.
Made of red muscadel grapes selected from the Breede River Valley, this full sweet muscadel spent five years in 500-litre old French oak barrels.
Presented in an elegant, elongated bottle, the 2004 Monis Muscadel is expected to retail for about R80 per 500 ml bottle.
