Continuing on its path of awards for 2011, the De Krans Cape Tawny Port recently received a score of 92/100 when it was tasted by wine journalist Neal Martin for the world renowned Robert Parker in the prestigious U.S. wine publication, Wine Advocate. This is the highest point awarded to a South African port.

This latest accolade follows hot on the heels of other outstanding awards this year which include a Double Gold at the 2011 Michelangelo International Wine Awards as well as being selected as one of the Top 100 wines in South Africa for 2011.

This award-winning port also boasts a Platter 5-star rating in the 2011 Platter Wine Guide and a Double Gold at last year’s Veritas Awards.  The De Krans Cape Tawny Port is distinguished by its lovely copper colour, its long, lingering aftertaste, breathtaking coffee and toffee aromas with a hint of nuts and raisins.  The perfect partner to enjoy with a hearty brown onion soup, coffee and chocolates it retails for approximately R105 per bottle, and is available at most retail outlets nationwide.

Parker also awarded the De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2008 90/100, with the De Krans Cape Ruby Port not far behind with an impressive 88/100.

“We are thrilled by this latest recognition, which further establishes us as front runners within the port industry in South Africa,” says winemaker, Boets Nel.
