Nederburg has three wines ranked worthy of five stars in the 2012 edition of Platter’s South African Wine Guide, scheduled for launch next month (November). Three five-star ratings is the highest number achieved by any producer in the 2012 edition of the guide. Nederburg shares this distinction with Boekenhoutskloof and Mullineux Family Wines.

Nederburg also had the highest number of five-star wines in the 2011 Platter’s.

Nederburg’s 2012 Platter’s five-star wines include the 2010 vintage of Ingenuity White, a blend of eight varietals that has consistently earned five-star status every year since the release of the 2007 maiden vintage. The other two, made exclusively for sale on the Nederburg Auction, are both sweet wines, the 2010 Edelkeur and the 2010 Eminence.

The Paarl winery also brought home six gold and six best-in-class ratings from the 2011 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London. The three best-in-class gold medallists were the 2010 Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest (also a trophy winner at this year’s Decanter’s World Wine Awards and gold medallist at the 2011 International Wine Challenge) and two wines made for sale on the auction. Similarly, the three golds were for the 2010 Winemaster’s Reserve Special Late Harvest and two auction wines. All three silver and best-in-class wines are wines intended for the auction.

Earlier this month (October) Nederburg won two Veritas double gold and nine gold medals at this year’s SA National Wine Show.
