Renowned for superb red wines, Bilton Wines – situated on the verdant slopes of the Helderberg – has struck Veritas Gold with its statuesque Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.

A powerful yet elegant wine, Bilton Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 entices with classic aromas of tobacco leaf, dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. This elegant wine delights with a sophisticated palate of complex layers of wild berries, almonds and black truffles supported by a rich, well-rounded tannic structure.

This wine carries the signature of winemaker Rudi de Wet who opted for a combination of French, American and Hungarian 300 litre oak barrels for the maturation period of 22 months ensuring that this wine will go the distance with great ageing potential. His 2007 vintage also stood out in London earlier this year with a Silver medal at the 2011 Decanter World Wine Awards.

The authoritative Veritas Awards celebrates 21 years as South Africa’s biggest wine competition and most highly esteemed indicator of quality market ready wines. This year 1 739 wines and brandies were rated by an authoritative line-up of international judges, joined by local specialists.

Bilton with its prime location and pristine terroir has all the right elements to produce wines of superior quality.  Deep soils combined with cool maritime breezes, provide ideal conditions for slow ripening of the grapes and the development of an abundance of varietal flavour.
